Becoming an effective coach
Right now, there are so many people who are sinking their teeth into the field of coaching. Sadly, not all of them are doing great. Don't be part of the growing number and try to excel in this field.
Here's how you can do that:
1. Expertise. Before you take the leap, make sure that you are an expert on your chosen niche. It's not enough that you know some information, it's a must that you know the ins and outs of your chosen industry and that you are considered a great source of information. Remember, people will sign up to your coaching services to learn or to improve their skills and this will not happen if you are not equipped with the kind of information that they are looking for.
2. Active listening skills. The problem with most coaches these days is that they don't give their clients enough time to talk about themselves and their problems as they are too excited to offer solutions and recommendations and get things over and done with. If you want to excel in this field, you should strive to give your clients great learning experience. Take time to understand their struggles or their goals in life. The more you know about these, the better your chances of offering those coaching programs that are tailor-fit to their needs and demands.
3. Improve yourself professionally. Obviously, the success of your coaching programs will depend on your knowledge, on your coaching strategies, and on your skills. You'll be able to stay on top of the game if you make conscious effort to improve your skills and to increase your knowledge on your chosen field. This can be done by reading relevant resources on a regular basis and by attending relevant seminars from time to time.
I understand this is an exploratory discussion only and that you are under no obligation to work with me, and I will not be required to commit to any course of action.
