How to get your clients to commit

The FACT Behind the Boom in Coaching:
Coach mentor

One of the elements that can affect the success of your coaching programs is getting your clients to commit. These people need to know what is expected of them and what they can expect to get all throughout the program before you even get started.

Here's how you can get your clients to commit.

1. Meetings. Most coaching programs are done once a week for 1-2 hours. Tell your clients what time and where you'll conduct your meetings. If you are serving people from across the globe, you can use the internet as your coaching medium. You just need to take into consideration the time difference whenever applicable.

2. Agenda. You have the option of sending your clients email at least 48 hours before the coaching sessions to inform them about your next session's agenda. By doing this, your clients can prepare ahead of time and they'll know what they'll expect to get from you for every session.

3. Cancellations. Sometimes, it's unavoidable that your clients will need to cancel their sessions. For your own protection, you will need to establish a policy for this. You may opt to still charge them (just inform them ahead of time) or give them some leeway (this can promote customer trust and loyalty). Make sure that the cancellation policy is clear.

4. More coaching time. There are some clients who'll surely need extra coaching time. This won't be a problem if you have so much time on your hands. If however, you don't have the luxury to spend additional time for each of your clients, tell them ahead of time. Your aim here is to give them a clear idea as to what they can expect all throughout the program.
